Can we continue to use our telephony infrastructure?

C

Phone systems can be connected with Teams in three ways. One way is to use Microsoft as your Calling Plan provider and deploy the Microsoft all-in-one Calling plan solution called “all-in-the-cloud”. Microsoft is the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) Carrier in that case with limited functionality.

MachCloud, as a worldwide telephony Carrier, on the other hand, provides multiple options to connect to the PSTN. In this way, users can use telephone numbers to make phone calls anywhere in the world. The Simplest Solution is a Phone system with a MachCloud Calling Plan.

We can set up solutions with Teams Direct Routing or even connection between your own cloud-based telephony system and your Teams users.

This way, it is possible to configure interoperability between existing phone systems and Microsoft Teams calling solutions. There are options for a hybrid solution as well.

Is a Phone System available for Teams users?

I

Yes, Microsoft has featured a Phone system for all Teams users who have upgraded to Teams Only mode. Phone systems are cloud-based phones that handle the inflow and outflow of calls via the Internet and the Cloud. MachCloud provides multiple options to connect to the Public Switched Telephone Network. In this way, users can use telephone numbers to make phone calls anywhere in the world. The Simplest Solution is a Phone system with a MachCloud Calling Plan. If you want to keep a telephone exchange for advanced routing based internal shortcodes, Teams users can be connected, MachCloud offers a solution for this scenario as well. These options work with the Teams app on PC and mobile devices of Teams certified devices.

Experience Direct Routing with Teams and PBX

E

Microsoft Teams allow smart communication, modern chat facilities, state of the art meetings and easy files storage capabilities.

With Teams gaining popularity more than ever after Skype for Business retirement, cloud communication solutions providers and cloud business officials are looking for ways to get value from their existing systems with Teams as much as possible.

Initially called “bring your own trunk”, Direct Routing was introduced with Teams to provide a PSTN connection with Teams to facilitate Teams users.

Can I integrate Teams with existing systems?

Microsoft enables organizations to place external or internal calls within the organizations. However, telephony features within Teams are limited. To overcome this MachCloud developed a unique connector integrating Microsoft Teams with existing PBX systems via Direct Routing. It enables personalized levels of communication, using the Teams app on any device: Teams Phone, Smartphone or PC.

Chose the right solution

MachCloud allows you to set up telephony services in Microsoft Teams in three different ways:

  1. Replace existing Phone systems with Microsoft Teams. You can save PBX related costs and benefit from attractive calling plans;
  2. Connect Teams users to an existing Cloud PBX, based on MachCloud’s unique Teams connector. Full features PBX functions, combined with the power of the Teams app.
  3. Use the Teams app on PC or smartphone to set up your calls via MachCloud’s Hosted PBX. You do need a Business voice subscription or Phone addon.

MachCloud assists in choosing the right solution and offers a smooth migration path allowing a ‘small step’ changeover. In case user requirements cannot be met with a single solution, a mix of traditional business telephony and modern calling in Teams can be introduced.

Things to consider before making your choice

  • Migration

To set up Teams or PBX Teams, you need to check telephone numbers, licenses, hardware and call routing. MachCloud offers advice and migration support.

  • Consider Remote working option

Since remote working has become a norm and virtual workplaces will be deployed to increase security, a long-term plan is essential to ensure good quality voice connections. Deploying a Cloud telephony system for remote workers, a PBX with Teams Connection needs to be managed and set up remotely. A backup routing is needed in case of connection failure.

  • Frequency of conference calls

Depending upon the type of business, it is important to forecast the frequency of calls and meetings. Bandwidth and connection requirements must be clear before integrating PBX with Teams. Avoid bottlenecks during an important meeting while working from home.

  • Choose the Right Phone

Simply put, you can use a Smartphone, PC, or existing phone connected to the hosted PBX. However, if phones are used with Teams, you need Teams-certified hardware or migrate existing hardware.

Microsoft Teams integration with Business Phone: What to expect?

M

A business Phone system is essential to every business these days. Microsoft Teams is a unified and full-fledged communication system that helps organizations to collaborate within the business environment. Latest business communication methods like chat, audio conferencing, and video meetings, file sharing is provided to users to stay in the know with the latest updates within a company project.

Every Business still needs a business phone

Even though business communication has evolved from the traditional phone, a phone remains as the most common form of communication in offices today. There are scenarios where you have to communicate one-to-one with a customer or supplier outside your company. These scenarios are catered for in the Teams app as integration with VoIP systems is supported. Doesn’t it make business communication a whole lot simpler and smoother?

Setting up calling services in Teams

What Should I know to set up a phone system with Microsoft Teams?

There are a few technical aspects of Teams that every business must be informed with. Let’s traverse through the important considerations of setting up your organizational phone system with Teams:

Know your requirements

It might sound a bit challenging, but it is always good to have a vision for the communication as to how would you want it a few years from now. In other words: Know your requirements. The abrupt pandemic in 2020 has introduced a new requirement: Remote working.

Having remote working employees requires a high-speed connection, low latency, and frequent connections to the phone system, while limited internal communication requires an average internet connection and fewer connections to the phone system.

If remote working is one requirement, specify it in advance.
